First Blog!

So,
For those of you who don't know,

I'm Avivah,

I'm in the USAF,

and THIS is my blog.

Welcome.

As we speak, it's 23:17 hours, on 6 September, 2007.
From hereon out, I'll list dates in my blog as they are written in the Military: 06092007 for today.

To set the story as it stands now, I'm already enlisted. I'm in the DEP, (Delayed Enlistment Program) meaning I'm not leaving right away. I've been to MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station), and taken my ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery).

Now, we play the waiting game.

I have DEP call on monday, meaning I will be up at the Recruiting station to start learning about basic training, and how to prepare for it. I'll also start having my SSgt., SSgrt. Marunick, call me once a week to check up on me and make sure I'm ok.

On 26092007, I'll probably be returning to WPAFB( Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) In Ohio to see what Base life is like, and visit the Aviation museum.

I'm very excited about beginning this journey, and hope to keep you all updated on my happenings and all.

Please check in often, see what's new, and comment!

Lots of love, starlight and Twinkles to you all!

You hear a low rumbling noise. The earth begins to shake. Stacks of paper spill onto the floor. Cupboard doors are knocked ajar. Small animals scurry about in fear and confusion. Priceless vases from the Ming dynasty shatter on the floor. You look to the horizon, and a wave of muffins blots out the sun...

RUN!!!

Alright, sending you a virtual flying muffin. Jet propelled. With stealth features, so you can eat it even if you're on a diet.

I hope everything goes even better than you dare dream. Keep up the blog - I'll be listening.

AIRMAN AVIVAH!

It's got a nice ring to it...

Did you know that I'm ex-military?

I was in Air Cadets (Canadian equivalent of Civil Air Patrol) for 5 years, while in High School.
I was awarded 3 scholarships:
a. Gliding License 1985 (gliders <2000lbs)
b. Pilot's License 1986 (Single engine, Day VFR, <4000lbs)-Cessnas and Pipers
c. European Exchange 1987 (Netherlands and Germany)

When I started University in 88, I joined the Army Reserve.
I was a rifleman for 2 years, and then went to Officer Candidate School.
During the summer off, we were full time for 4 months, living on base, going on courses and exercises.
I retired as an infantry Lieutenant.

The only thing I regret was not getting enough pictures and keeping in touch with my comrades in arms.
With digital now, things would be way easier!

In closing, I'll pass our regimental motto on to you.
"Semper Paratus"-Always prepared. (It'll be on the quiz.)

You mentioned Wright Pat AFB.
I live in Northern Ohio.

Thanks for dropping me a comment! I, and probably my mom, will defiantly be in touch! I'm from Michigan, but the recruiting stations take monthly trips to Wright Patterson in Ohio. I was on the one last month, and I'll be back this coming wednesday. I'm really looking forward to being in the AF, and meeting a WHOLE bunch of new people.
